BMI (Body Mass Index) is a quick way to estimate if your weight falls within a healthy range based on your height. It helps identify if you may be underweight, at a healthy weight, overweight, or obese. While it’s a useful starting point, it doesn’t measure muscle, bone, or body fat directly.
BMI Range Category
Below 18.5 Underweight
18.5–24.9 Normal weight
25.0–29.9 Overweight
30.0 and above Obese
Note: These ranges are general guidelines. Age, gender, muscle mass, and fitness level should also be considered.
BMI is widely used, but it’s not perfect. It doesn’t distinguish between fat and muscle, and it may not be accurate for athletes, children, seniors, or pregnant individuals. It is a starting point, not a complete picture of your health.
